Play Like A Girl is a jam session and network for women musicians, providing an opportunity to gain inspiration and support from each other, and a safe space to jam together and expand creativity, skills and networks. An experienced local performer hosts each session and performs a set. Afterwards, women musicians have an opportunity to perform their own songs and jam with others.

Previous special guests have included Rebecca Barnard, Liz Stringer, Nat Allison, Michelle Parsons, Kerri Simpson, Cyndi Boste, Wendy Rule, Milk, Kavisha Mazzella, Sam Lohs, Rosie Burgess, Tracey Miller & more

Play Like A Girl Jam Sessions are the last Tuesday of every month from February through November.

Melbourne's only jam session for women musicians, Play Like A Girl, kicks off the year in a new venue - the Cornish Arms Hotel in Brunswick - with special guest Kristy Apps (QLD) on Tuesday 23rd February.

Kristy started her musical journey at age 16 when she got her first guitar. In the 10 years since she's worked with some of Australia's and the world's best from Deborah Conway, Pete Murray and 2009 ARIA nominee Producer Anthony Lycenko, to Canada's Ember Swift. Music writer Craig Spann summed up her stage energy and reckless blend of rock, folk and country: "to see Kristy Apps perform is like seeing someone channel the spirit of Janis Joplin".
