The Weekend Warriors is for those who maybe started playing years ago, & have found that, due to things like families & careers, are now not playing as much [or at all!]. Maybe you have been playing for years but never had the chance to play in a band; don't worry, no "professional" players are allowed into the Warriors, so there will be no need to feel intimidated. Now this bit is vitally important - There is NO "basic skill" required to do a Warriors program!! If you can get around three chords, keep time or hold a tune that's all you need.

The Jam
The Weekend Warrior Program starts with a jam session for all those interested in participating. All that is required from you is that you turn up, have a bash & have some fun!!! The purpose of the jam is to "break the ice", meet the coach and other prospective Warriors (you'll soon realise you're not the only one who is really nervous!). There is no obligation to do the program if you come to the jam and the jam is only for those interested in participating in the Weekend Warriors program. There is no charge for the jam.

After the Jam
After the jam the coach will put together up to five bands, based on music styles & vibe. Our coaches take many factors into consideration when forming bands so for the success of the program please don't put the bands together yourselves at the jam. The numbers in each group may vary from 3 to 6 members.

A few days after the jam we meet at the Allans Music + Billy Hyde Store for about 1 hour. The coach will let you know what band you are in & when rehearsals are. You can begin to choose the songs you'd like to play at this time in preparation for your 30 min set at the gig.

Rehearsals
Every band will have a 2 hour rehearsal each week for 4 weeks with your coach. We hope that you'll be vibed enough to take the rehearsals seriously & use your spare time during the week to work on learning the songs well. As per the jam, all gear is provided.

The better prepared you are, the better "The Big Gig" will be.

The Big Gig!
The gig is all about you and we want you to encourage your friends, family & workmates to come along and witness your musical rebirth!

In addition to the guitars, amps, keyboards, mic's and drum kit, and in keeping with your rock star status, also provided are the band venue, P.A, road crew and lights. Though you must provide your own groupies!

We average about 250 punters at each gig. Profits from the cover charge at the gig go to charity.

The P.A, drum kit, keyboards, guitars & amps for the jam, rehearsals and gig are provided by Allans Music + Billy Hyde. You are welcome to use your own guitars and basses though due to logistics you will need to use the amps, kit and keyboards provided which are of the highest, professional quality.

There is a $300 fee to participate which covers coaching and our administration costs. The fee is payable after the jam, before the first rehearsal.
