Take the first step to rock stardom!

A young teacher has made it her business to unearth Perth's next generation of rock gods in her rapidly expanding rock school. Em Urquhart's passion for music is so infectious that it has drawn students from all over Perth to join Rock Scholars.

With the support of Billy Hyde Music and the Drum Shop, Rock Scholars gives budding musicians aged 10 - 18 the opportunity to experience what being in a real rock band is all about, right down to using top level equipment.

How does Rock Scholars work?

• You are placed in a band
• You rehearse once a week using professional gear
• You play regular gigs (community events, end of term shows and more!)
• You work with qualified, experienced staff
• You learn to communicate with other musicians (musical terminology, song structure)
• You play a range of music from hard rock to funk and punk
• You meet a bunch of awesome people who love music as much as you do!

Rock Scholars is currently taking enrolments for 2009 and places are filling up quickly!

We are pleased to announce that we are now offering the world class repair services of Nitrovane Guitars to our customers in North Perth. Kevin Nitrovane is one of Australia’s most highly respected luthiers. Hank Marvin and Mark McEntee from the Divinyls among many others rely on Kevin to keep their guitars in top playing order. Now Kevin will be instore here at Billy Hyde Music in North Perth on Saturdays between 2.30pm and 3.30pm to collect repairs and also talk you through intricate repairs, setups or crazy mods that you can dream up! He’s the guitar equivalent of Pulp Fiction’s Mr Wolf and he’s here to help!
