Tim Burnham is one of the Melbourne music scenes more colourful characters. Known for his "tuff" drumming style and dedication to playing any style in the most authentic way, he is sought by Melbourne's top musicians. Drumming from the age of ten, he grew up playing big band swing, brass band snare drumming, funk and heavy metal. This combination of styles gave him excellent technique, theoretical knowledge and a mature understanding of the drum kit. With these skills he went on to score an A+ on his VCE exam, entered into Box Hill Institute of TAFE and was runner up in the Australian up and coming drummer competition in 99 & 2000. Following his studies at Box Hill, Tim formed the versatile acid jazz combo "The Genuine Artkle". This band was soon working every night featuring a two year stint at the swanky Melbourne Club, The Purple Emerald. It was soon after that Tim joined blues showman and ARIA Award winning Ash Grunwald. Joining Ash's band gave Tim the opportunity to become the house drummer for the Espy 'jam night' - a true rock 'n roll experience! Tim has played with the likes of Lloyd Spiegel, Ash Grunwald, Jimi "the human" Hocking, Chris Wilson, Sweet Felicia and the honeytones, Miss Dorothy & his fools in love and many more. These days, aside from teaching at Billy Hyde Academy Greensborough, Tim is exploring his passion for recording in his humble home studio and writing with his original bands. Both these bands are very high energy and are an excellent vessel for Tim to demonstrate his amazing ability to entertain and "Rock Out"!!! |
